4. Troubleshooting API Errors

This page helps admins and users diagnose the most common issues encountered when communicating with the Proff API.


1. Invalid or Expired Token (401)

Symptoms:

  • “Unauthorized” message

  • No data returned from search

Fix:

  1. Go to the ProffConnect Setup Page

  2. Re-enter your Proff API token

  3. Save & retry your search


2. Insufficient Permissions (403)

This typically means the token does not have access to the requested endpoint.

Fix:

  • Contact Proff support to check your token’s permissions.


3. Entity Not Found (404)

The organisation number or search query does not exist in the Proff database.

Fix:

  • Confirm the organisation number

  • Try additional search parameters


4. Rate Limit Reached (429)

Proff imposes rate limits on API usage.

Symptoms:

  • “Too Many Requests”

  • Temporary inability to fetch data

Fix:

  • Wait a short period and retry

  • Reduce automated or repeated queries


5. Network or Connectivity Errors

If a request cannot be completed due to network issues:

Fix:

  • Check Proff API Status messages

  • Contact Avenor Support if there is no issues on Proff API Network.

If issues persist:

  • Contact your internal Salesforce admin

  • Contact Avenor Support for assistance
