This guide walks you through setting up Proff Connect from scratch. Follow the steps in order — each one builds on the previous.
Estimated time: 30–60 minutes depending on your Salesforce org complexity.
Before you start
Make sure you have the following ready before beginning:
|
|
Requirement |
|---|---|
|
REQUIRED |
Proff API token from Proff / Enento Group — contact api@proff.no if you don't have one |
|
REQUIRED |
System Administrator access in Salesforce |
|
REQUIRED |
Proff Connect installation link (provided by Avenor upon request) |
STEP 1 Install the package
Install the Proff Connect managed package in your Salesforce org.
⚠️ Always select "Install for Admins Only" during installation. Never install for all users at this stage.
After installation, do not open the app yet — complete the access setup first.
→ Install the latest Proff Connect version
STEP 2 Assign licenses and permissions
This is the most critical step. If permissions are not set up correctly, users will see errors or missing data.
You need to do three things:
-
Assign package licenses to all users who need access
-
Assign the correct Permission Set Group (Admin or User) to each user
-
Add the Proff Connect Insight Data permission set to both groups
⚠️ Do not skip step 3. The Insight Data permission set is created by a post-install script and must be manually added to your groups. Without it, Company Insight and Contact Insight data will not be accessible.
→ 1. Assigning the Correct Access in Proff Connect
STEP 3 Add your API token
Navigate to the Proff Connect app in Salesforce and open General Setup → Home. Enter your Proff API token and click Save. Once saved, your org is connected to the Proff Premium API.
ℹ️ Only users with the Proff Connect Admin permission set group can access General Setup.
STEP 4 Configure application settings
Open the Settings tab in General Setup and configure:
-
Country access — add the countries in your Proff subscription (NO, SE, DK, FI)
-
Default country — set the default for new account searches
-
Insight storage — choose Always Store or Store on Demand
ℹ️ You can only select countries your API token has access to. Contact api@proff.no to extend your subscription.
STEP 5 Set up field mapping
Define how Proff data points map to your Salesforce fields for Account, Contact, and Lead. These mappings must be configured before users can create or sync records.
|
Object |
Required fields |
|---|---|
|
Account |
Organisation Number + Country Code |
|
Contact |
Proff Person ID + Country Code |
|
Lead |
(Organisation Number OR Company Name) + Country Code |
⚠️ Also check your required Salesforce fields. Any field marked as required in your org must be included in the mapping, or record creation will fail.
STEP 6 Add components to your pages
Add the Proff Connect Lightning Web Components to your Account, Contact, and Lead pages using the Lightning App Builder.
|
Page |
Minimum recommended components |
|---|---|
|
Account |
New Account override (or Company Search list button), Sync Account, Company Insight, Related Contacts |
|
Contact |
Sync Contact, Contact Insight |
|
Lead |
Enrich Lead |
→ 5. Add Lightning Web Components to your Salesforce org
DONE You're ready to go
If you've completed all six steps, your users can now:
-
Search for Nordic companies and create Accounts with verified data
-
Sync Accounts and Contacts with fresh data from Proff
-
View financials, roles, shareholders, and more in Company Insight
-
Enrich Leads with company data
-
Use Bulk Create for prospecting
